Where The Wild Things Are.

Hello Ted, I think that my final task will involve setting up a reading session for a group of SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN. The book I'm using is called WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE. I intend to download the book and use Voice Thread to put together a lesson where the children can sit and listen. I'm hoping that this little group of children will be able to respond to some very basic questioning by drawing pictures. I would like to use some of these pictures as an evaluation of how successful this type of lesson can or cannot be.

  1. Hi Lou,

You've got an interesting idea here. A couple of quick questions:

    1. How long can young students sit and listen without any visual stimulus?

    2. Would your students be using a computer to draw the pictures, or pen and paper?

    3. Would the pictures be drawn as the students are listening to the story, or afterwards?

I'm not sure, but I was wondering if an environment like Scratch or VoiceThread would allow you to upload scans of the student pictures and then they could add sound and/or text to create their own small version of the story.

    Just some thoughts anyway.

    Jenny :-)

  2. Hello Jenny, will to talk these ideas over with the relevant teachers. Am going to add pictures to VOICE THREAD, am adding whole book. So the children will both see and hear the storu. Attention span, very short, am intrested in their reaction. Am not certain what to expect.
